Are you going to try Star Wars - The Old Republic? If so, would you do it with your fellow Muppets?

Yeah, the updater/patcher can be a pain in the ass.

file corrupted (sigh)

oh well, repair

downloading 5 Gb (oh crap)

installing.....

file corrupted

(repeat ad nauseam)

when you get it running, the game is still entertaining though. heard some rumours about large portions of the game (basically everything except operations (raids)) going F2P, with a store for additional benefits.

Well, we'll see where it goes. (Still playing DIII at the moment)

Had massive offline time this Summer, but I was hoping to get back into the game soon. :) Hoping...

They are making the entire game F2P with certain limitations on raids and repeated instances, as well as some restrictions on the trade network, but overall. I think I could easily switch to the free versino without it making much difference to my playing at this point.

Not sure when they will implement it, but my guess is before Pandaria hits.
Pandaria does look fun, and chances are I'll be going back once that arrives as well... Too many things to do :)

F2P (free to play) is a very broad term and is in most cases not true; they all have restrictions which by some point will interefere your game play in some way or another.
There is, to my knowledge, only one truely MMO F2P game among the larger titles and thats Aion NA controlled by NcSoft West. In Europe it's GameForge that runs the business, and that requires at least something called a gold-pack to be truely playable.

Many players use more money on F2P games than a normal subscription-based game. Beats me why any of you want to play Star Wars: ToR anyway.
I kill two dwarves in the morning. I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel alright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace, and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.

Force Lightning as a dialogue option?

p.s. Yeah. Free comes with strings attached in most cases. I'll have to carefully see what what means. In the case of ToR there will be an extensive shop with both cosmetic stuff and stuff that actually helps you level faster (why you would do that is anybody's guess, leveling is the best part of the game). If you want to do hard-core end-game stuff, you'll have to buy the subscription. I don't see myself raiding anytime soon. If I'd have to pay for every new planet or bit of story they release, I'll be pissed. let's see where it goes.

free to play, pay to actually enjoy? Yeah. Still, getting the entire story portion of the game free (which is the best part, and prob. cost the most in dev time and money) is a big thing. I'm torn atm. between keeping my sub of buying enough cartel coins to get all the bits I want (action bars, cargo hold, inventory, crafting slots etc.)

So, now the expansion is out for a while, has anyone else taken a look at it? I know I've led Ingen back in the trap, but have any of you tried it again?
